Culturally informed matching for placement managers, placement officers and supervising social workers

Every day, placement teams make decisions that shape how a child sees themselves. In this course, we'll look beyond ethnicity on a referral form to the culture, language, faith and history that make each child who they are.

This interactive e-learning course has 5 short modules:

• Module 1: What Transracial Matching Means
• Module 2: Differences Within Communities
• Module 3: Language, Faith and Everyday Care
• Module 4: Migration and Displacement
• Module 5: Supporting the Placement

It includes narration, practical scenarios and a final quiz of 12 questions (80% pass mark). You can learn at your own pace on any device, and you'll receive a certificate when you complete the course.

What will i learn?

• Explain what transracial matching is and why ethnicity is not the same as culture
• Recognise differences within communities, including colourism, tribe and caste
• Plan for a child's language, faith and everyday care needs
• Understand how migration and displacement shape identity
• Brief, support and review foster carers in transracial placements
