This course explores the identity, health, culture and lived experiences of Black children in care. Learners will gain a deeper understanding of how health inequalities, skin and hair care, colourism, and African and Caribbean heritage influence children’s wellbeing and sense of self. Through interactive activities, real-life scenarios and reflective learning, the course supports culturally informed, respectful and confident practice. Designed for those supporting children and young people, the course builds awareness, challenges assumptions and strengthens everyday approaches to care. Learning is accessible, practical and self-paced, with opportunities to apply knowledge in real-world settings. No prior knowledge is required, and learners can progress at a pace that suits them.
