This course supports foster carers and professionals to understand and meet the needs of unaccompanied asylum-seeking children (UASC). Learners explore the reasons children flee their home countries, the challenges they face on arrival in the UK, and the importance of trauma-informed, culturally sensitive care. The course covers age assessment, integration into family and community life, emotional wellbeing, resilience building, and legal and practical support. Through scenarios, activities and reflective learning, participants build confidence to provide safe, compassionate and informed care. The course is accessible and self-paced, designed to support everyday practice when caring for vulnerable children and young people. No prior knowledge is required.
