Course description

Why hair is tied to identity, culture and faith, what the Equality Act 2010 and EHRC guidance mean for schools, and how to review a uniform policy for fairness.

Who it's for: All school staff, primary and secondary: teachers, teaching assistants, pastoral, office and lunchtime staff, DSLs, designated teachers, SENCOs and leaders.

How it works: This is a reflective course, not a lecture. Each idea is introduced, you share your view, sense-check it, then see what good practice looks like so you can check your own thinking. Every idea comes with a primary and a secondary school scenario.

What's inside:

  • Hair and identity: culture and faith
  • The law and guidance: Equality Act 2010 and EHRC guidance
  • Reviewing your uniform policy
  • Apply it: a branching scenario and a drag-and-drop activity
  • Your commitment and a five-question knowledge check
