Course description

What adultification bias is, how it weakens safeguarding responses, the lessons of the Child Q review, and how to respond to every child as a child first.

Who it's for: All school staff, primary and secondary: teachers, teaching assistants, pastoral, office and lunchtime staff, DSLs, designated teachers, SENCOs and leaders.

How it works: This is a reflective course, not a lecture. Each idea is introduced, you share your view, sense-check it, then see what good practice looks like so you can check your own thinking. Every idea comes with a primary and a secondary school scenario.

What's inside:

  • What adultification bias is
  • Child Q: lessons for every school
  • Child first: language in records, referrals and searches
  • Apply it: a branching scenario and a drag-and-drop activity
  • Your commitment and a five-question knowledge check
