For social workers, supervising social workers and professionals who visit foster carers and families at home

When you visit a foster carer or a birth family, you walk into the centre of their life: their faith, their food, their children and their private space. How you arrive, speak and behave tells them whether you see them as partners. In this course, you'll learn to do your job fully while showing real respect.

This interactive e-learning course has 5 short modules:

• Module 1: A Home, Not an Office
• Module 2: Arriving Well
• Module 3: Hospitality, Faith and Language
• Module 4: Statutory Duties, Done Respectfully
• Module 5: For Carers: Hosting and Speaking Up

It includes narration, practical scenarios and a final quiz of 12 questions (80% pass mark). You can learn at your own pace on any device, and you'll receive a certificate when you complete the course.

What will i learn?

• Explain why home visits carry power, and why respect matters for children's safety
• Arrive well: greetings, names, shoes, dress, pets and timekeeping
• Respond to hospitality, faith and prayer times with care
• Use plain language and professional interpreters
• Meet statutory duties, including seeing children alone, respectfully
• Help carers host visits and raise concerns confidently
