Recruit, Retain, Reflect: for fostering recruitment, assessment and support teams, managers and commissioners

Children in care need carers who reflect their heritage, faith and communities, and many Black and global majority families would make wonderful foster carers. In this course, we'll look at how your service can find them, welcome them, and keep them.

This interactive e-learning course has 5 short modules:

• Module 1: The National Picture
• Module 2: Why Households Hold Back
• Module 3: Recruit: What Works
• Module 4: Retain: Keeping Carers
• Module 5: Reflect: Listen, Measure, Change

It includes narration, practical scenarios and a final quiz of 12 questions (80% pass mark). You can learn at your own pace on any device, and you'll receive a certificate when you complete the course.

• Describe the national picture on foster carers and children in care
• Explain why Black and global majority households may not come forward
• Plan recruitment built on community partnerships and trusted messengers
• Respond quickly and warmly to enquiries and reduce drop-out in assessment
