We are seeking an experienced Compliance Officer to lead and maintain a robust compliance framework that ensures full adherence to applicable federal and state regulations, internal policies, and regulatory expectations. This role is essential in mitigating regulatory risk, upholding ethical standards, and ensuring the Credit Union continues to serve its members with integrity, transparency, and accountability.

Key Responsibilities

Regulatory Compliance

  • Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive compliance program.
  • Monitor and interpret regulatory changes from agencies such as NCUA, CFPB, OFAC, FinCEN, and others.
  • Ensure compliance with federal regulations, including but not limited to: Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) / Anti-Money Laundering (AML), USA PATRIOT Act, ECOA, HMDA (Fair Lending laws), Truth in Savings Act (TISA) and Truth in Lending Act (TILA), Regulations E, CC, Z, D, SAFE Act, UDAAP, GLBA and data privacy/security laws

Policy and Procedure Management

  • Draft, review, and update compliance-related policies and procedures.
  • Ensure internal documentation reflects current legal and regulatory standards.
  • Train employees on policy changes and compliance protocols.

Audits and Examinations

  • Serve as primary liaison with internal/external auditors and examiners (e.g., NCUA).
  • Lead preparation for audits and regulatory examinations.
  • Coordinate responses to findings and oversee remediation efforts.

Risk Assessment & Monitoring

  • Conduct periodic compliance risk assessments and testing.
  • Monitor adherence to policies, procedures, and legal obligations.
  • Report on compliance issues and trends to senior leadership and/or Board of Directors.

Training & Education

  • Design and implement ongoing compliance training programs for staff.
  • Deliver specialized training in areas such as BSA/AML, fair lending, and data protection.
  • Keep staff informed of regulatory changes and compliance responsibilities.

BSA/AML Compliance

  • Serve as or assist BSA leadership in managing the AML compliance program.
  • Monitor transactions for suspicious activity; file SARs and CTRs as required.
  • Conduct BSA risk assessments and manage BSA/AML audits.

Member Interaction

  • Investigate and respond to member complaints related to regulatory or compliance matters.
  • Ensure timely, compliant, and member-focused resolution.

  Qualifications

Required Experience & Skills

  • 5–8 years of experience in compliance within a financial institution, preferably a credit union or bank.
  • In-depth knowledge of federal regulations and NCUA guidance.
  • Proficiency with compliance management systems (CMS) and risk assessment tools.
  • Direct experience working with regulators (e.g., NCUA, CFPB).
  • Familiarity with core banking systems and financial products.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline
  • Professional certification such as: Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM), NAFCU Certified Compliance Officer (NCCO), Or equivalent designation
