Overview

As part of the Select Region leadership team, the Carrier Relations Officer will oversee relationships with all contracted carrier partners across Small Business and Personal Insurance with an emphasis on maximizing our carrier relationships to ensure financial success for the region, long-term stability of our Partner Market relationships and developing strategies to grow premium and revenue through our various initiatives. Additionally, the Carrier Relations Officer will ensure new acquisitions are receiving the financial synergies via our carrier partnerships.

How you'll make an impact

  • Defining the Carrier Relations strategy, setting the vision and roadmap for how we expand existing Carrier partnerships, evaluate our existing portfolio and manage our Partner Market strategy
  • Evaluates carriers and creates enhanced commission arrangements with Partner Carriers that best fit to support Select Region’s business strategy and customer’s needs
  • Responsible for contingent commission budget and revenue growth through development of enhanced commission arrangements for region.
  • Spearhead all Carrier-related projects, day-to-day management of the relationships and partner with Sales and Service to ensure we are meeting each Carrier’s preferences and compliance needs
  • Building and maintaining strong, collaborative relationships with Carriers, acting as the primary point of contact for Carrier communication and negotiations which includes running monthly calls, annual business reviews and annual planning with Carriers
  • Monitoring contract performance to ensure compliance with contractual obligations
  • Defining clear objectives and success metrics for our Carrier partnerships
  • Acting as subject matter expert on industry trends, market dynamics, and competitive activities to identify growth opportunities, potential risks, and areas for improvement in Carrier relations
  • Updating the Carrier Matrix so that our Sales/Service Teams are up to date on our partner’s commissions/appetites/guidelines, etc.
  • Analyzing Production and Loss Ratios: Conduct in-depth analyses of production and loss ratios, providing valuable insights to our team and clients and ensuring maximization of contingent and supplemental payments
  • Collaborating on Strategic Initiatives: Collaborate with team leaders to develop and implement strategic initiatives aimed at maximizing our partnerships with insurance carriers
  • Evaluates carrier agreements as part of the acquisitions and merger due diligence process and determines and gaps, risks, and opportunities.
  • Develops acquisition integration strategy to create favorable commission arrangements with key markets for new Select Region merger partner,
About You

  • Bachelor's degree and 7 years of related multi-line insurance experience required. 

Preferred:

  • Minimum of 15+ years of property and casualty insurance industry experience with an insurance company or broker with an advanced understanding of P&C product lines, underwriting and risk management philosophies, market and industry trends, and clients. Deep understanding of how agencies and carriers work together.
  • Proven track record of successfully cultivating and managing Carrier relationships
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills, including contract management experience
  • Excels collaborating cross-functionally with senior internal stakeholders
  • Ability to understand and take action based on data trends
  • Confidently and effectively communicates with a professional demeanor through oral and written means with a diverse range of individuals both internally and externally having superior negotiation skills and experience to deliver differentiated results
  • Experience leading multiple projects that span client stakeholders, including internal senior leadership and external influencers
  • Relational-- exhibits a confident demeanor, a positive attitude, and genuine friendliness. Is honest, respectful, considerate, empathetic, and approachable.
  • Problem Solver--capable of identifying current and potential situations, use analytical thinking to consider all factors, and negotiate and implement effective solutions.

The actual compensation will be influenced by a wide range of factors including, but not limited to previous experience, education, pay market/geography, complexity or scope, specialized skill set, lines of business/practice area, supply/demand, and scheduled hours.
