Job Description

NIFCO is seeking a dedicated and motivated Apprentice Plumber to join our growing field team in Lincoln. Responsibilities

  • Assist in the installation, maintenance, and repair of plumbing systems under the guidance of experienced plumbers.
  • Learn to select appropriate types and sizes of pipes, materials, and equipment according to project specifications.
  • Inspect work sites to identify potential obstructions and ensure safe and effective pipe routing.
  • Help plan installations and repairs to coordinate with other trades and minimize disruptions.
  • Cut, thread, and fabricate pipes as needed for various projects.
  • Assemble and install metal and nonmetal pipes, tubes, and fittings, including iron, steel, and CPVC piping.
  • Connect pipes using threaded, grooved, or cemented joints and secure them with brackets, clamps, and hangers.
  • Test piping systems for leaks by increasing pressure and monitoring gauges.
  • Observe and report any malfunctions in fabrication machines on job sites.
  • Maintain a safe and organized work environment, adhering to all safety protocols and company policies.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Valid driver’s license required; assistance provided to obtain an Apprentice License.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and construction documents.
  • Basic math skills, including the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
  • Willingness to learn to read blueprints and isometric drawings.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Physical ability to stand, walk, climb, kneel, and lift up to 50 pounds regularly (occasionally up to 100 pounds).
  • Comfort working in various environments, including wet or humid conditions, heights, and exposure to temperature extremes.

Compensation

$20 and up per hour (based on experience and knowledge).
