Job Description

The Archdiocese of St. Louis strives to teach and share our faith, serve others, and foster unity throughout the St. Louis area. Once a part of Kenrick-Glennon Seminary's campus, the Cardinal Rigali Center in Shrewsbury, MO is today the headquarters and curia (governing body) for the Archdiocese of St. Louis.

Job Summary

The After School Care Supervisor is responsible for the overall coordination, management, and supervision of the school’s after-school care program. This position ensures that the program provides a safe, structured, and nurturing environment aligned with the school’s mission and values. The Supervisor leads and supports program staff, oversees daily operations, implements age-appropriate activities, and maintains clear communication with students, parents, and school administration.

Job Responsibilities

Program Leadership & Oversight

  • Manage the daily operations of the after-school care program, ensuring a safe, positive, and engaging environment for all students.
  • Supervise and support After School Care Aides and other program staff; provide training, scheduling, and constructive feedback.
  • Plan, organize, and implement age-appropriate recreational, academic, and enrichment activities that promote social, emotional, and cognitive growth.
  • Ensure the program operates in accordance with school policies, licensing regulations, and safety standards.

Student Supervision & Engagement

  • Monitor and guide student behavior, fostering respect, cooperation, and inclusion among participants.
  • Ensure activities and routines are inclusive, developmentally appropriate, and meet the needs of diverse learners.
  • Provide assistance with homework, snacks, and personal needs as necessary.
  • Promote positive interactions and model appropriate behavior at all times.

Communication & Collaboration

  • Serve as the main point of contact for parents regarding after-school program matters, ensuring timely and professional communication.
  • Collaborate regularly with school administration to provide updates on student attendance, incidents, staffing, and program improvements.
  • Build strong, respectful relationships with students, families, and staff to support a cohesive and positive program culture.

Administrative Duties

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date attendance, incident, and student records.
  • Ensure adherence to sign-in/sign-out procedures and compliance with health and safety protocols.
  • Monitor inventory of supplies, snacks, and materials; submit replenishment requests as needed.
  • Prepare reports and documentation as requested by school leadership.

Health & Safety

  • Enforce all health, safety, and emergency procedures consistently.
  • Serve as the lead responder in emergency situations, including administering or coordinating First Aid/CPR when necessary.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and secure program environment.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Education, Child Development, Recreation, or a related field preferred.

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working with children in a school, daycare, camp, or similar environment.

  • Prior experience in a leadership or supervisory role strongly preferred.

  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to lead a team, manage multiple priorities, and remain calm and professional under pressure.

  • CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain prior to start date).

  • Must be dependable, patient, enthusiastic, and passionate about creating a supportive environment for children.
